The Gecko G540 is a great 4-axis stepper drive system. If your using stepper motors that draw more than 3 amps you may need to think about how to keep the G540 cool.

A heat-sink works by increasing the surface area available for heat transfer to the surrounding air. We have found that adding a heat-sink to the G540 provides an economical method to keep it cool when driving larger stepper motors. It also has the advantages of not having any moving parts and not making noise like a fan would.
